Indwelling Life Overview – Part 2

Wednesday, September 28, 2022

You have two life sources within you: Christ’s life in your spirit and self-life in your soul. Both of these life sources have an inherent nature with different instincts and character. Whatever life source you draw from will effortlessly produce the fruit of that life.

If you live by Christ’s life, you will become spiritual.

If you live by self-life, you will become carnal.

To live the abiding life, there are five main hinderances to overcome: natural strength, self-reliance, the rational mind, emotions and experiences, and the body.

If you don’t overcome these expressions of living by self-life in the soul, it will hinder Christ’s life from flowing freely like sap from your spirit to organically produce Christlike fruit.

However, focusing on what’s wrong paralyzes you but focusing on what’s right propels you. When you know what’s right with you because Christ dwells in you and He has transformed your spirit, it completely changes your life from the inside out, enabling you to overcome the five hinderances just mentioned.

In an instant, you exchange spiritual poverty for spiritual wealth, shifting you from living in defeat to living in victory.

Because Christ dwells in you, you have shekinah glory and rivers of living water within you. You can now have a holy-of-holies relationship with Christ in your spirit, where you dine and commune with Him.

Not only that, because Christ dwells in you, you don’t have to wonder what to do or wander without direction, for the Helper, the anointing, and the truth reside deep within your spirit.

You also have access to the mind of Christ, enabling you to know the Lord’s thoughts, desires, burdens, and passions.

Finally, because Christ dwells in you, you have resurrection power, creative power, power for ability, and the kingdom of God residing within you.

When you receive a revelation, not only of who dwells in you, but of how He has transformed your spirit, it alters how you live. Knowing what He has done in you and meditating on it often gives you spiritual traction so you can make spiritual progress.

If Christ is in you, He has transformed you into a new creation. This means your spirit has been regenerated, resurrected, and is now a partaker of the divine nature.

It also means your spirit—or one-third of your being—is now righteous, holy, Christlike, and complete.
