The first priority of God’s eternal purpose is the supreme exaltation of His Son. God’s ultimate intention is for the Son to have preeminence in everything and to be the center of all He does. As His bride, it is critical for us to understand the role of Jesus Christ in God’s ultimate purpose—and to embrace how we, too, can exalt Jesus here and now. This message looks at how God’s eternal purpose revolves around His Son. Everything that God does is from, through, and for His beloved Son (Rom. 11:36; Col. 1:18). This means that the good pleasure of God’s will can only be accomplished in the Son. Paul revealed this when he said, “In accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Eph. 3:11). The Father “purposed” to do everything “in Him” (Eph. 1:9). In the heavenly council of eternity past, the Son of God was forever established as the boundaries of the eternal blueprint (Acts 17:31). He is the horizon and limit of God’s ageless purpose.
