Jesus spoke a parable during His life on earth. He said that new wine must be placed in a new wineskin. He said if this did not happen, the old wineskin would break and both the wineskin and the wine would be lost. The parable suggests that to build a new thing, we must first come out of the old wineskin and then build a new one. Consistent with this idea, this session addresses the need to leave the old, the erroneous, and the things of lower purpose in order to position our life, church, or ministry for building an eternal purpose church. This session looks to the book of Colossians, in which Paul exhorted the Colossian church to come out of the pursuit of philosophy, tradition, the things of God above the person of Christ, and the shadows of Judaism. The reason was so that they could be solely focused upon Jesus Christ. In Part 1 of this session, we look at the need to break the old wineskin and to seek a new wineskin so that we can fully contain Christ and His eternal purpose.
